Long time no artist blog.

Dint had much time lately, school projects etc.
But now i have vacation wich meens a lot of free time. Anyways i tryed to draw a new set of human characters, but after an hour or two i noticed that i need a lot more experience in drawing. cause the only thing i could draw were stickfigures Smiley.
So i started to make some new textures for the human male and human female 3d models.
This is the textures i had at first.
Human male

* chainmail armor
* plain arms
* green pants
* some gloves
* simple head (no real attention given to it)
Nice and ok but it dint have the "thing".

Now it has this.

A lot better.
*leather armor on the chest
*leather armor on legs
*leather gloves
*and a new face Smiley

Also started on the female.
I was quite satisfied with the first texture, but i had to change.
here is the first texture. (a bit small)

* Redisch shirt
* Red sleeves
* Red-brown pants.
* simple gloves
* litle pale head.

So that was going to change.
so i made it into this.

Actually it looks almost the same. Even worse.
So back to scratch.

And came up with this.

* Leather chest.
ITS HARD TO CREATE GOOD LOOKING BREASTS.
first time i had a ligitimete reason to go googling for breasts, to see how the shading is.  Tongue
* Black leather belt
* Leather Pants (a bit too bright)
* Leather short sleeves, with normal arm.
* still same face, so a litle to pale. Need to go into town and photograph some faces that i can use.

Main
thing todo:
* Creating atleast 3 different races each having atleast male and female chars.
* LEARN HOW TO DRAW Tongue
* createing smooth 2d animations.

Thats all for now.

Edit:
Also made a dwarf model,
the same as the human male but smaller and more muscles.
it 'll look a lot better when it has some different textures on it.

Hey red!

Good to hear from you. It looks like you have been a bit busy, looking for breasts and stuff... Finished product is -really- nice! I think that from afar, i'd think that the males will look like they are not wearing anything, especially no shirt, that blends in even when it is close up (at first). The female looks cool, and she moves too Smiley  however, maybe a bit more contrast between pants and shirt again here (as she doesn't show much skin for the clothes to blend into). It is always really cool to look at new stuff from you, and you gave lots to look at this time Smiley

Great job Red!!!!
I have a suggestion... please make the shoes a bit rounded, they now look like clogs. And I know you and I are from Holland... but the rest of the wold already puts a stigma on us.... :-)

Love the female char :-)

But anyways il try to round out the shoes a bit more, but the "rounder" 3d models are, the harder a computer has to work to get things renderd.
so i need to keep things as blocky as postible, without it looking as a square Cheesy.

changed a thing on the dwarf model, it has a beard now.
also modified the shoes, so its a litle rounder.

I still think that the male charahter looks vey nice because of the armor is visible. The male charachter makes people know how advance u are in a game.  PS does mithrill armor show on the character?

the female character i would have to say is the best.  It moves and it walks a bit, so  have to congrat u on the 3d art work.

Many dwarfs look like Gimli Wink

As for armor showing up, i believe you don't get it. Atm, the armor you are wearing will not show up on your playerdoll. In 3D it probably will, but that is a long time down the road (and will be like B4 i bet, always just out of reach, when it does get close to coming out). Hope you see what i mean.

Hey,

Shadowwave01: Thanks Cheesy. btw the male character also moves and walks but you i dint render that yet.
here you can see the male moveing etc.

Unislash: wel you missed the first tests with the ogre engine,
but we were able to change textures with just a press on a button. So i dont think that its out of reach. that is something we will get in the 3d version.
il write down some things that are going to be in the 3dclient concerning the models.(if its up to me that is).

* "Paperdolling" so you can see on your character what you are wearing. So if you wear chain mail, you will see chainmail on your character. and if you'd change
    it to Leather body armor, you'd see that also.
* Different weapons/shilds etc. in 2d this would also be called paperdolling but with 3d its slightly different. With this you can see if your holding your dagger,
   or if your holding your big mother heavy blunt mace/war hammer. And also what shild, horn, and other items(backpack/ scroll bag etc) you are using.
* Spells and effect. Things like the good old flame sword (so a sword with flames coming out of it Tongue) the fire ball, the magic bullet etc. but al in
   paricle effect(that meens coool).

What movements wil the models have: (eventually that is)
* All kinds rangeing from mega sprint to crawling and death
* also atacking casting, takeing something from your bag, mining with an axe. farming, etc etc.
* Emotes. waveing, pushing, etc

Edit:

Some other questions about the 3d client.
How is it going to look?
The 3d version wil almost be excactly the same as the 2d version, but maby a litle bigger. so everything wil be larger.
Als everything wil be smooth, so walking of the character, scrolling etc.
eventually also will the monsters.
Also fireing magic spels wil look smoother and cooler.
