I'm done with trying to improve the website theme.

You may use what graphics i have provided (and edit to suit needs), but its not fun any more, in fact certain dramas have actively made it miserable.

I have other (Daimonin-related) projects to work on, and i won't give any more of an explanation or change my mind.

I'm sorry Smacky, for what its worth it was fun to begin with and i kinda feel like i'm letting you down here by not helping out on this particular feature of Daimonin.

Missed page 5...

@TPK: I understand but Sad

@Sub: Nice, TY. I am not sure of the exact requiremennts of smiley sets, so give me a while to look into it.

@ANICH: Yes and no. TBH IDK if we can have daimonin-light and daimonin-dark. I guess so as it would only be different images and css.

In my mind I am thinking of a NPC GUI-a-like theme. So tile the cracked mud graphic from the client on the forum bg, with lighter and even lighter ones on alternate posts, and the red border texture as separators, for example. That would look quite nifty I think. (For example, the developer label background is a button from SENTInce.)

Nice thing about SMF is that you can have many different themes set up. Site Administrator can change what is the default theme (like for holidays, special events, or try something new. Members can always select a different theme that is to their own taste.

You could have :
Daimonin Default theme
A low end monitor theme (1024)
Smacky's Choice theme
Business style theme
Testing something new theme
etc

The Default Theme should project an image that will attract the kinds of players you want to join this project and who will enjoy playing this game. It should also let visitors know that artists, musicians, mapmakers, script writers and coders are always welcome. You have this one chance on first visit to snare them.  Cheesy

hehe Sure Tehill. But: http://www.daimonin.com/logout_action_not_working-t6631.0.html;msg68048#msg68048

So we need to base the other themes on the daimonin theme, and only alter images, css, maybe basic layout.

For sanity though first we need to develop a single base daimonin theme.

@Sub: I uploaded your smileys but there seems to be an underlying problem with adding  smiley sets which will need to be resolved first.

EDIT: looked it up, maybe this info will help

Quote
As I said earlier, it's not just one set that is the problem any more...it's ALL the sets....text..no images.

It's normal if you added a new smiley set and set it as default, all others will show as text, same in my forums.

Quote
My folder is set to default in settings.

Please make sure you have checked all configurations, your new smiley set folder needs to be default in "Smiley Sets", "Edit Smileys" and "Settings".

If you set them as defaults in the "smileys and message icons" configurations they would show up properly. Maybe you forgot to save changes after you configured the settings.

You could try to use to manually add the smiley instead, Go to "Add Smileys" then add each one and always don't forget to save changes.

If it doesn't work then just start from scratch and don't bother install a new smiley sets. Default smileys loads faster and will not cause any problems. Smiley

Well now I am torn. I actually couldn't care less if we keep or don't keep the post-related stars. As I said above I am kinda surprised it has caused such a furore though.

But now I am quite keen on keeping them simply for the comic value of seeing people spit with rage over their existence. Cheesy

Still, I'll post the requested poll in a minute.

...which I'm sure will lead to people complaining that we are using a poll to decide whether we want to keep the post count markers...  laugh

http://rapidshare.com/files/96498683/daimonin.rar.html

smacky try downloading that file, ive found issues with my smileys you uploaded already (in which i forgot to set some to index and some dont have transparent backgrounds

ive fixed these problems and made alot more smileys :]

from what i read on the SMF website, you need these in a new folder (you cant just add them to the current smiley folder) so it will be like changing skins on the widget :]

also i think there will have to be a edited file that i cant get to in order for them to work (but i absolutely have no idea what im talking about when it comes to coding... so yeah)

^^

EDIT:
heres a preview

Thanks Sub. Yeah I put them  i a subaru folder -- so  we would have 3 sets to choose from, default, classic, or subaru. The smileys are actually separate from the theme.

The problem I had was I think to do with MT's bridge, but it could well have been me doing something wrong. I'll have another look later.

You tried them out? How? Smiley

Hm, it seems they did install, despite the   reported error. OK, I've gotta put in the updated set and do a bit more setup.

ATM 50% not showing up is expected. In an unexpected sense. Wink

No, because it is all fixed. Smiley

Note that although all the smileys Sub has done now work fine, ATM her smiley set lacks quite a few.

I'll post a table of all smileys here in a bit.

Actually, I just found out (ty Anich) that you can see a list, by clicking 'Reply'. But note we can change that list later on or add completely new ones -- a smiley  to represent 2 weeks maybe? Or a blue bird one? Or whatever.
