Hey all,

A few days ago i went around town and took a bunch of snapshots of the local flora for some concepts. I found a ton of trees that we should have, and a few plants/bushes as well.

Album located at http://s286.photobucket.com/albums/ll108/Unislash/

I sure hope this gives us some ideas of what to make next. There's so many kinds of trees out there that we don't have Smiley. I've started with a few of these pics already:

Cheers,

Hey, nice to see you, Raab Smiley

You should try to draw some of the scenery i have taken pics of. And hey, no animating! lol

Just make sure to draw them at the right angle (as these pics are not Smiley )

what a bulky album!! ive tried a few times recreating some of these concepts into a game graphic... but each result doesnt seem as though it would fit into game nicely... but ill keep trying and hopefully soon get a nice one :]

A little tip that seems to help me turn my creations into things that fit in:
1) Make the contrast greater
2) Darken it a bit

This helps because i find myself often drawing with colors that are too similar and too bright--even when i try to over-emphasize it Tongue. So, if it isn't fitting in because it sticks out or blends into the grass (which happens all the time when i try to make something with green in it), try this tip Smiley

Cheers,
Unislash

PS: Concepts are generally meant to be used as a model; not to be used as image manipulation. Just so we all are on the same page Smiley

that sounds like a good idea actually, ill try that next time thanks :]

most of the time i get frustrated because daimonin graphics are so small! it doesnt leave much room for work to be done :[ and if i do make something huge and resize it, the details arnt even recognizable... :[

anyway ill try to do another one and if its anywhere near 'ok' ill post it up :]

re: details being too small- don't try to make details like you normally would, but instead try to make them with as few pixels as possible.  I always make details a quarter of what they really should be, and let the mind fill in the rest.  For example, if i was to make a pirate, I would put a red bandanna on the person, and a white smudge on the shoulder.  The white smudge being a skull, but you can't tell that because its so small.  The idea is, however, that the details are there, and players will imagine them to be accurate to the scale being used.
