Is there a free music making program that a windows 98 computer can use?

if i understand correctly the only programs that will work on a windows 98 computer are limited to midi-creation software.

Most programs require 1ghz minimum and generally are better suited to higher end machines (resource intensive as either decompressing multi-channel audio, with effects, or software instrumentation).

Of course, if you were to make music and record it, that would definitely not require a high end machine as people have been doing that for years.

I would recommend Audacity. It's a simple but powerful tool, and 100% free open source.

You can also download some sound effects from various sites. (Google is your friend).

I would also recommend you get some recording equipment. It doesn't have to be high quality stuff, but as long as the music coming out of it is the one that you want .
