Hi

Some people (Fallon_dark, Gnub, Chobit... ) has asked or send me new background music for b4.

To sort out what we have or what you want to do we will use this thread.

First: IF you has sound file you want show, you can email me it to info@daimonin.net. I will put it on the website so people can listen to it.
You can also send it to me with the note not to make it public of course.

From what i had seen - i mean heared Wink - so far, you guys has some ancient ambient sounds for daimonin. I really would like the make nice themes for the different locations. But also single files will work fine.

Well, lets start it.

Awsome, do the files have to be in .ogg format, or can we send .wav, .mp3 and the like?

.ogg would be preferrable imo since that's what the game is configured to use, though other formats would probably be acceptable if MT has a program available to convert the format (and has the time to convert them [taking away more coding time]).

.ogg would be fine for ambient stuff, but mp3 would go to - when needed i can convert it.

wav is fine for sound effects.

That's great for the musical people. I'm not good in that, but I can't wait to hear what you guys have made.

Now all you need is a contest for the people that use the other side of their brain...Im not good at Drawing or Music, but I am at math...too bad there arent really any contests that use that =/

BTW, Michtoen, I converted my .wav music files to .ogg in stereo, not sure if that's right or not, and I don't even have a .ogg player to make sure they are okay.

Let me know if they work okay, and whether stereo or mono is prefered.

[Edit] Okay, i fixed that problem, got the appr. codecs for Ogg Vorbis file type, just let me know about channels, stereo or mono

oh gosh sorry mt for not seein this before lol <.> Well here's the scoop. MT the ambient sounds in OOp and some of the other dungeons, in my oppinion need to GO. the sound in 00p when i try to train annoy so much.... "EERRR WOOOO EERRRR WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO"  -.- that noise pisses me off. i'm tryin to find new stuff for dungeons as well, but err i'm not to great at "dark" sounding stuff.. most chord progressions i write are melodic, and mostly minor- aka ballads and sad songs. sooooooooooo i'll try to get some new songs up..The other update- Fallon has recieved the file, and messed with it. He claimed to know a lot about music production, and i agree with him. The song sounds a lot more clean, but i would like the bit of fuzz to go away? I don't know how the heck to do that, but i've been settin my Windows Media Player (which it opens in MT so i dont know if that'll affect anything) to jazz and other settings, becasue the equalizer has different settings. i'll send you the file, and you can attempt to post it on here (again- i'm not the brightest compy person)

Hi, can someone post the link, if there is one, to the information about different sound files and the different programs/accessories to use them? I like guitar and have been messing around with some potential songs but i don't know how to get them on the Compy (besides recording through mic, and even then i have a really shoddy mic) Any info would be appreciated, and if worst comes to worst i could always send the guitar tab OR staff (i know both incase you only know one) to someone else, just as long as it gets there somehow.

SirKerrick:  Try this program, http://www.dgalaxy.net/magicscore.php or this one http://www.tabledit.com.  They are both pretty good, and shareware.  And, both allow you to play back the music you have entered through a midi sound card.  (Most sound cards have a midi engine built in, as you may know.)  Tabledit is more designed specifically for guitar players and tablature, while Magicscore is pretty much an all around composers tool.

To convert to Ogg Vorbis format, check out http://www.vorbis.com/.  There is software there to allow you to convert and play .ogg sound files in most Directshow media players.  Or, create the files in .wav or .mp3 format and convert them.  Try http://www.ogg-converter.com for a program that will convert to and from this file type.

To create the actual sound files using either of the score composers I listed, you must play the selection you have created while recording on your system.  Make sure you configure to record directly from your sound card's midi output, rather than from a mic.  This will eliminate background noise and other undesirable effects.

Hope that helps!

<claps> Bravo!! Very nice work, Gnub, Chobit, and Fallon.  I am impressed with your awsome talent.

If I could be so bold, Fallon_dark, that is the most beautiful piece.  I assume you performed it as well?  I could not help but see a minstrel traveling along a dusty road, perhaps singing a light chant to the lovely and sparkling melody of his strings.  Maybe, weaving a tale of heroes and magic lore, he passes a band of would be adventurers as they trudge off to some dark, and unknown fate, lifting their spirits as they listen to the notes echo through the wood.

If I might ask, as I fancy myself a guitar player, if you might have music for that piece, in tablature or standard notation, and if I might ask such a favor, It would give me great joy to attempt to master such a fine piece of music.  Thank you.

Agreed with Nao. Very impressive all. Shocked

(I've commented on Nao's works before, so I'm sure she'll forgive me for skipping them now.)

Gotta say (and I hope this won't cause offense) I'm pleasantly surprised by Chobit's. After all the difficulty you had and... errm... documented rather copiously on the forum I've got to admit I didn't hold out too much hope. I was wrong. It 'feels' nice. I would say this works well with Nao's Fallon fantasy too. Definitely a woodland, wilderness, travelling piece. Maybe not the best recording though, but that's np at this stage.

Gnub's gave me a good chuckle. Did you write the music for the 8-bit and 16-bit Zelda games? This is just what all three remind me of. No bad thing at all, but I do wonder if the rest of Daimonin has (or even wants?) that retro Zelda feeling. Anyway, nice pieces, if a little short.

As to Fallon's effort, again I agree with Nao. Very nice piece, very well played (there are a couple of hiccups, after about 1:00 and 1:20 but those could be the recording or my playback or something and it dies with an error at 1:42). Have that played on entering an elven forest city and I'll be happy. Smiley

More music to make me feel envious and inadequate!

EDIT: FWIW it's Chobit's I've gone back to replay.

EDIT 2: .ogg was playing through RealPlayer 10 by default for some reason. It's now back to xmms and all quality problems and the error in Green have gone away.
