GJ Sammy. I think you're going to win points with Polyveg making mobs this way. Wink

Any chance of improving the shading on the 2d image (he looks a bit... er... 2d and flat) and smoothing the edges a little?

Hi @ all  Cool

@smacky
Ok, I went trough the lightning-process again.
I hope this is less 2d and flat and a bit more 3D  :wink:

(Old Version) (New Version)

In my opinion "smoothing the edges" isn't much needed, because here in the forum the contrast between the picture and the backgroundcolour is very strong. Ingame it looks better. I promise!  Tongue

Zip-archieve is updated!

@Dimitris
Yeah ... you're right. I made the dark monk after our talk ingame. Smiley When I logged out I thought : Hmm .. Ok, lets try to do it with Blender. ... and ... Voila, it's working  :lol: If you need some help with stuff like that just ask! Cool

Looks much better. I see what you're saying about contrast in the forum. Also, with the new lighting IMO smoothing isn't necessary now anyway. Smiley

So is that a 3d mob or a 2d mob? or can you use it for both? Blender is 3d correct?

Hi @ all  Cheesy

@Kaydeth
What you see here is definetly a 2D-Mob for the 2D-Client of Daimonin.
The special thing about it, is that I designed the dark monk with blender as a truely 3D-model. This makes it alot easier to get rotated views (renderings) of it and then transfer it to a bitmap needed for the 2D-Client. The positive sideeffect is that this 3D-Model may be of some help when the 3D-Client is ready for use.  Cool

@tehill
Maybe i can do some darker "dark monks".  Tongue  Eventually a large set of members of a holy order. Any ideas ?

@smacky
thx ... you're welcome!  Cool

Yes, you need some with decorations, but keep it minimal. Perhaps some sort of decorated neck thing or jewellery or apron with 'mystical' symbols maybe.

Along these lines:

And also some light-bearers and a few with something going on under their hoods. Like horned ones.

Maybe they could slowly march in a line, chanting and occasionally bashing the guy ahead of them with a big book. :mrgreen:

I think that each deity should have its own unique order (if thats not too much work Wink ) Each would have a different colour robe, and a different symbol as its decoration (either an amulet or emblazoned on the chest). Monks of different deities should attack relevant players (ie non-allied/enemy deities) using relevant spells.
Then again, last time I checked, the names for other deities other than Moroch (suitable candidate for the horned monks Smiley ) were unknown...

Hi @ all  Cool

Ok, I see that there is a whole bunch of ideas about this kind of mobs.
But one step after the other !  :wink:

First of all I tried to make the attack-animation.

(animated gif)

Second step was to build a proper .arc-file.
http://home.tiscali.de/sammydesign/monk_dark.zip (package with .png-files and the corresponding .arc-file)

Third step was to test it with my server.
(jepp ... it works!  Tongue )

Now I can try to alter this mob with several signs on his robe or even diffrent colours.  :wink:
