this is a first unfinished concept of a new world map. It features 3 semi-seperated areas: Elf, dwarf and human towns. The maps havent been done yet, this is just in its starting fase.

the elf town is in a huge forest that will contain
* The tree of life, the lifebringer for the elf race and nature
* The elven library that is said to hold many secrets (and prayer spells)
* The living forrest (one big group of treants with some hostile, if you fight back the entire map goes after you)
* The archery range

The dwarf town area featuring
* The dwarven mines (leading to various locations and its said to go to the depts of the earth)
* The dwarven fortress with the counsil
* The mage guild/tower/the old mage
* the warriors guild

The human area with
* a small town
* the cartographs home
* the old wise man (storyteller and questgiver)

And also
* Riverlake a huge like with rivers connected to it Tongue
* The great dragon lair
* Connections to the lower planes

Are you saying that everyone of those tiles is going to be a map?!?! That's a lot of work... you should commision some help Smiley  
So the bottom left portion is the unfinished part right?

i edited the post to make it more clear, i havent done any of the maps yet i thought it would be wise to make a plan first. yah i wont be able to do this alone and there are still a lot of arches missing to make these maps (for example how am i gonna make the tree of life? i honestly have no idea atm)

actually im gonna try mas producing default grass, forrest etc areas and with randomised spawn points etc. Only the 'special' areas like the towns would need a lot of work to finish. Eventually more features might be added to the randomised maps.

Well, if you know how to edit for new archs, you could make pieces of it. Like taking a tree, removing the foiliage, and then doubling the thickness of the trunk or something like that... I bet if you mess around with all the trees and overlap, you can get something suitable until a kind soul decides to make an actual arch for it.

Hey mod, let me know what your concept is for the tree of life.  I'll make up an arch and graphics for you.  Should be a fairly simple thing.  I'd like at least a vague concept of what your looking for though.  Is this thing a mob, ie does it move and fight and talk.  Or is it just an ancient tree with mysterious powers of life.

Let me know, and I can probably work something up for you in a couple of days.

That grid looks rougly 100x100, so 10,000 maps? Wow and to think my mapset of 500 or less took me nearly 2 years.

If its 10,000 maps, that's only 5,760,000 individual tiles...not too bad.

But still, some of the tiled maps could be left out....for example the lake maps would'nt have to be included. (they'd be pretty easy even if they were included, hehe)
