How do I make this?
I thought I would just sick a poisoning force in a booze_generic so that drinking the booze would also eat the poisoning but that doesn't seem to achieve anything.

Nope, doesn't work (Im kinda glad -- I don't like that method -- poison is poison, no need to qualify it with cursing (BTW I tried cursing the booze and the poison force).

IMO it should just have a flag for it, or it should be a seperate arch.
Well, if you go into the booze_generic options then the attack tab and add (%) poison it gives the booze a poison attack (ID the booze). Unfortunately it doesn't seem to actually do anything to the player. Might be a bug.

Or it might just be that it can't be done in B4 the same way. The way food works has changed, is poisoned food and such a thing of the past?
Also, adding resistances doesn't work, so you can't increase or decrease resistances through booze, that doesn't sound right at all

There is a separate type for poisoned_food, type 7 (normal food is 6). I keep being ditracted so haven't tested it yet, but I got this from examining Cleo's poison booze in DM mode on main so I assume it works.
I think that is a slightly disappointing way of doing it. It would seem more sensible to do it in a way as suggested above: the food has forces in its inv, and when eaten (or drunk) those forces are transferred to the player. Surely this is more flexible and in keeping with the generally OO approach mentioned in MT's tutorials. For example, then you could have food which carried diseases or indeed cures (this is important for a future project
). Plus we could dump another type, 7, altogether.

Hmm, while we are on teh subject and I have nothing better to do, I'd like to issue a formal complaint about the weakness of poison booze. I mean, when I drink a poison booze there is a weird sound and I take anywhere from 1-3 damage every few seconds. IMO that's pretty weak. If I chug a bottle of nasty, stanky, purposely poisoned booze I want to be seriously hurt. I mean I want to take some serious damage, I want to puke all over the place, and I want it to last until I drink some water or cast a spell or something. Enough of this wimpy booze.

This poison is not weak. I think it may quickly become a Hobo favourite. But it can be a little tricky to get.

Hmm, but if you make the poison too strong, carrying a bottle around with you would just be an easy way to escape prison...
