picture3 gives you a view to the latest client3d version. http://people.freenet.de/client3d/changelog: - the facial animation demo made it into the gui. (the ogred3d max exporter is not yet ready for our own stuff) - red is on a list of animations - we will have hundreds of them. - we have 2 loading pictures made by a friend of mine. - ThePlaneskeeper has drawn some npc-selection gfxs. in the end they will show conditions, etc - the tileselection is shown by a particle effect. - many cleanups. the binary version meanwhile outdated again (no npc selection).

@yogibayer atm, you seems to be the only one interested in client3d. so i will send you a pm as soon as i implement the new model red just send me (16 anims ) . casting & weapon, shield and armor toggle will be active again. player selection will work.

I presume Beta3 won't be playable on the main server after the new version is released?

No it won't. The next version is beta 4. You'll need to download the beta 4 client to play (although I think I'm right in saying this will require nothing other than the resources/hardware beta 3 already requires so if you can play now you will be able to play then).
But this is totally unrelated to client3d which won't be able to play anything for a while, let alone b3/b4.
The screenshots look nice, Polyveg. I'm currently trying to update my system so I can compile and run client3d myself.

The screenshots look nice this is only the beginning. there are some nice features on my todo list. I'm currently trying to update my system so I can compile and run client3d myself. keep on trying  red has send me a model with 30 anims. there are still some max->ogre3d exporter problems, but you must see this in action...

for creating another interactive demo, red and me didn't sleep for 2 days now. it should be in the download section before weekend. all features i have already coded will be in. e.g: - toggle weapons - togle shields - toggle cloth - particles (firesword, tile selection) - player selection - lots of animations (red was a bit lazy, so we only have 1 of our 1024 models ready yet) - gui stuff - movement - tree planting

Wow this is of course way beyond the beta four release, I suppose that this 3d client is going to be quite a bit more difficult to implement and a couple years off?
It is looking very nice keep up the good work.

I've done it. I've installed client3d. And it only took 6 days. Woohoo!
I have one problem. The mouse pointer just appears as a scattering of pixels, nearly impossible to see except on the dark background. Any ideas?
Oh, and one oddity. My little man seems stuck in the axe-cleaving animation, which is fine by me. But I have a second little man in the water near the top left. Why?

@Sherock i think we will have the first "playable" version before end of year.
@smacky cvs is outdated (cvs was down a while), i will update today or tomorrow. you should try again tomorrow. the second guy is a medical aidman. he is there in case the fighter cut one of his toe.

Can I just install newer builds over my old installation or do I need to do something fancy first? (If this is a stupid question, my excuse is, I can usually keep working at things until they do what I want but basically I'm a noob.)

to some extent you can....there will come a point though where the B3 client won't work with the new server packages and the new client packages won't work with B3 server.
