Have you written any pieces of code before?  Maybe 'C', or 'Visual Basic', or 'Perl'?  If not, then you should stay away from scripting until you are more experienced.

Try making some maps first - you can do a LOT with just the map editor and connected objects!  Have a look at some of the test maps that come with the map editor - there's loads of interesting things you can put on maps to make them interesting, without needing to add scripts.

i've been playing around on all the maps and i've done everything there is to do on the editor Angry ive been testing my maps and the only problem i ever have is scripting and making mobs drop a certain item. i guess for now i could just try that. How can i do that??

For mobs to drop a certain item, use a random-drop object (can't remember where it is right now, but you can find it somewhere in the editor ... misc?).  Put the random-drop into the mobs inventory, set its parameters, then put the 'special drop' that you want the mob to drop into the random-drop's inventory.

Problem with scripting is, its a big subject.  Difficult to really answer your question in a post.  We had a lot of useful information in our old Wiki - but the scripting pages have not yet been migrated to the new Wiki on this new site.

The best I can suggest for now is to open some of the maps that come with the mapmaker download and have a look at how those scripts work ... especially Fanrir in Guild Hall (maps/planes/human_plane/castle/guildhall/) and the maps that are in maps\dev.
