And when considering augmenting items (RoI, RoF, etc.): Augmenting items only affect those items which your mental perspective creates, therefore they do not work on rods/wands/etc.; as these augmenting items attunes your mental perspective/ body energies to better harbor these energies, and their flow.  It does nothing for fixed objects like wands, rods, and horns.
I do not agree with this... Magical devices indeed use its own energy, but it's the caster who unleashes the power inside it, so if he is aligned to some element, it should in some way affect his ability to use magical device... Ask yourself: should someone who is denied some element be able to use spells belonging to it from a magical device but not to cast it normally?

Anyway as I said... this is all fantasy so its on the mythology creators to create any system they want...
Maybe MT wants magic as powers provided by some sexy fairies in some other dimension Smiley

Youre insane. Magical devices uses its code and 'caster' i triggering it with ctrl+direction key.

I disconcur. If one needn't have skill in MD, then I would be in agreement with this statement. However, since one does need to have a certain level of skill, one is putting into the use of MD their own energy and, therefore, augmenting/restricting items *should* have an effect on MDs. But since one must use a part of themselves (their skill) in order to use MD, then items that affect magic (augmenting/restricting) should also affect any magical elements that the user is using, as well.

I think that pretty much sums it up

MD levels are not for actually using a MD, but figuring out how to use it.  Your MD levels determine how complex a contraption you can figure out how to use.

The difference being ... ? In reality, there is no difference between the two.

Rods and horns recharge from the natural mana in the environment just like a player resting. If you don't give your rod enough rest while it is applied it will whine. Just like a player it can be used before it is fully recharged, but it could get severely damaged. If you unapply it before it fully recharges it will not have a full charge when you use it next.

Rods and horns automatically became a little different when Lippy changed the magic system. Whining light rods are now more common especially with lightning due to increased base mana cost. An adjustment will be made to the light rod arch, but this will only effect new drops after the fix is committed.
