Were you on the test server again? If so, look to El Presidente and his script -- and Cleo, please don't do this as it is causing false bug reports, or at least own up after the zapping.

If it was on main, yes you probably got zapped for some reason. Was there a funny noise too (zaps make a noise, but perhaps there should also be a 'You've been zapped' message to prevent such confusion). And by stats, do you mean Str, Dex, etc (zapping does not do these) or just the health indicators (hp, mana, and grace -- zap reduces these to 1, 0 and 0)?

Who's El Presidente and what makes you think Cleo logged in? Cleo quit playing/developing/participating in the forums. Sad And, if I may be so bold, he said it was because of your sloppy coding, Smacky. But I'm just the messenger so please don't shoot me. Smiley

Err...

Not sure how to answer this one, but Cleo is on #daimonin right now and I know was reading the forums last night because he asked me a question. I also don't think that he blamed 'my sloppy coding' for anything, though hearsay, and that's all it is as no-one's had the wit/balls/reason to say anything to my face, has implied that he 'quit' after server development moved on and his scripts no longer worked perfectly.

But whatever the truth about all that, I didn't say it was Cleo's fault. This is just one possibility that it was Cleo playing with his script again, if duker was on the test server. That's why I asked, because exactly the same thing happened when doomknight reported this 'bug'. Here: http://www.daimonin.com/strange_thing_happened-t7354.0.html;msg73931#msg73931

Equally, it could have been a GM on main using DMBuster rightly or wrongly. Dunno, that's why I was trying to get the facts.

OK Smacky but the way you worded your response you made it seem like you were calling Cleo "El Presidente" and  blaming him for the "bug." Just letting you know how it sounded.

I was calling Cleo El Presidente -- because he has given himself the rank of President Cleopatra on the test server.

And I don't think it is a bug -- if duker was on the test server my reasoned guess is that Cleo was having fun.

So I'm glad my post said what I meant.

Nite*Star is correct. Your sloppy coding is just stupid and doesn't improve anything, but makes everything worse.

Edit: And no, I didn't zap that guy. And before accusing someone of anything, get the proof first.

id hate to say this, because your my friend cleo, but i believe you have misinterpreted smacky a bit.

what smacky said in his first post, i would agree that it sounded like he accused you but he clarified his post in the following posts he has made

he gave the possibilities that could have made this bug happen (if it was even a bug) and even said "Equally, it could have been a GM on main using DMBuster rightly or wrongly. Dunno, that's why I was trying to get the facts."

he is trying to get the facts, and he also said "if duker was on the test server my reasoned guess is that Cleo was having fun."

he never ruled that out as a fact either, thats why he said my reasoned guess, because he is unsure.

And I think cleo's point was that he shouldn't be making accusations against people at all, unless he is sure and has the facts to back it up but that's just my interpretation of what cleo was saying....

Hmmm, please calm down everyone...

I think perhaps Smacky was just poking fun, even in his first post, and clarified that in further posts.  As far as sloppy coding, i have little knowledge of that.  Although I'd be very surprised if Smacky didn't "fix" the code he did if someone called him out for being "sloppy", if that is truely what the issue was.

If it was more of a matter of disagreement over server feature development, then it should have been discussed in the Dev forums before implemented into Trunk.  (which i might add, it very often is done so)

Either way, I'd be interested in learning what in particular (as "sloppy code" is very vague) caused Cleo to leave, BUT that should not be discussed in this topic if it relates to server functions and development practices.

*shakes head* I didn't accuse anyone of anything. I tried to reply to a vague 'bug' report by suggesting two possibilities based on what has actually happened. In the case of Cleo and the test server, very recently.

Essentially you play on the test server at your own risk. It is for devs and map wizards to experiment, so all sorts of wonderful, weird, or broken behaviour may occur there. So Cleo is perfectly within his rights to operate a zapping script there.

However, he must also exercise some responsibility and restraint. In particular, if his actions are causing false bug reports, this is a slight problem because it ends up being devs, not Cleo, who have to deal with these. And then blaming his actions on code bugs is really annoying...

This was the case in the first 'bug' report and the reason why I suggested it as a possibility in this one.

As to my 'sloppy coding', examples please. As I said before bug reports are good, unsubstantiated blames are pointless.

Sorry for double posting, Subaru, but just to make sure Duker notices this...

Have you logged in since? Any problems (ie, are your stats normal now)? If they are, Iguess this was a problem somewhere along the line with your connection to the Dai server. IOW the data being sent to you was getting corrupted somewhere, somehow -- so your actual char on the server was fine but the information your client was receiving (and therefore what it was telling you) was messed up. I think choppy screen and major lag point to this.
