Ok not sure if this is the best thread for this but here goes...

I am working on a subterrian map.  Under the latest version of editor I did not see a flag that would allow for this so here goes.  I was thinking of creating a hole in the ground that works like a locked door.  It provides the message that it is a deep dark hole, you will need perhaps something to climb down on.  when applyed like a locked door it checks you inventory for a "key" in this case the "key" is a ladder rope.  My first thought was that I used the arch for a locked door but changed the face to a hole but perhaps there is a better way to do this?  any ideas on how to script it?  I have examined the few available scripts and cannot find a way without a better knowledge of the scripting.  I do not wish to reveal the whole storyline for why I need this done but perhaps a pm would work from someone with any good ideas?   Thanks a ton...

EDIT  never mind sorry the editor has the stuff all in place.  I figured it out and it is working great !!

For those of you who haven't heard it yet; the -server option has been removed.

Please DON'T send maps to another emails as

maps@daimonin.net

Only here we can give the full support.

As i respect the good will, ONE big point of this contest is to bring
map makers near our devs. We need the exchange of ideas and
problems.

We can't fix a problem we never have seen!!!

2nd, the sense of this map maker contest is to give suggestions
and help HERE IN THE FORUM.

So, please send the maps to

maps@daimonin.net

If you want help & suggestions from the Daimonin dev team!

I will watch to every set personally and because i have done most
technical parts by myself i have a very good knowledge about
whats perhaps wrong.

Also, i can run maps under special compiled servers where all
debug is enabled and which run under a debugger (to catch
bugs).

That involves you has Visual Studio installed and some good
programmer knowledge (don't try it before you has coded 2-3
years intensive).

So, there is no easy way to let make it other people.

Thanks

sure.

Please note - we will move as soon as possible the dev maps to our test server.

The -server option will not be needed in the future to test maps - you will have
your local server and "ready to test maps" on the test server.

Where you then have the options to compare maps too.

lol good times (remebers the killer flower.) but i have a quick question. i have  ahuge 100x100 map (too big?) split into 4 25x25 maps. i've done 2 of those maps but nor's server got closed and i don't want these to go to waste. basically (and i was talking to hser about this) it's a map with fw decorations and a desert setting. (used the sand tiles of course.) and in this insanely huge map... a massive mob army. a bit overboard? can the server support it? and if so i'm making the lvl range 40-100. the point of the map is specifically for grouping with friends to take on a huge mob army. or if your a bad *** like longir or gnub, prove your a one man army killing machine of ultimate power and dominance. so... from all the other's map makers point of view how does this sound? and from mt's point of view can it be implemented? i'm a scriptless genius so i can improvise the problems i have as i go (automatice killing machines, invisible magic FS walls, turning it into a quest evry1 in the group can benefit from [or not a quest at all but jsut for fun] etc.) if this is ok to do i can start on the second half of it. if not i can trash it all together but like i said, the main reason for it is to bring the community together )maybe reduce thieveing?)

Tiles are 24x24 only (something to do with easy transition and less memory)
I am working on a burial mound dungeon thing, for med level players. The idea behind it is that the local village has been ruined by an invasion of skellies from the ancient burial mound that they cleverly decided to build their homes next to. The priest in <insert name here> has heard about this and sent an acolyte down the mound to discover whats wrong. He(she) discovered that there were necromantic rites of summoning going on, and a mighty monster had been summoned to lead the deranged skellies to conquer the world (muhahahahahaaaa! *strokes white cat*) Therefore, the priest sends the acolyte back down the mound appropriately equipped with stakes/garlic/powerful kill all undead in the name of whichever God, to defeat the beast. Unfortunately, the acolyte does not return, and the priest is forced to ask an unknown wandering adventurer (guess who) to go and find out what happened and finish the job.
HOWEVER, he has severely depleted all his nasty kill undead items, and the acolyte has used them all - you have to go in with nothing extra, and complete the task, working your way through magically locked doors, confusing mazes and finally confront the beast from the depths of hell, all for a prize of <i haven't thought of one yet>
Anyway - thats what i'm doing Smiley

The 24x24 thing is explained at various places throughout the forum. Basically, it's just so the server only calculates "active" tiles. So if there's nothing and no-one on it, then it's a lot of load off the server.

 Cool
Just try to present your mapset here in the forum ... (give the community an idea about the background of your mapset , maybe a screenshot, aso )
This helped me alot when I started mapmaking.
Just make it public and the feedback will follow.

I would like some feedback as this is my first real mapset ive created.
